Other SNB and PS educational institutions

The first education system of the Ministry of the Interior (MV) was created in 1964, with the task of improving the general and specialized education of National Security Corps (Sbor národní bezpečnosti – SNB) and MV servicemen and enhancing the capacity of schools that had been created in the 1950s offering secondary and specialized education. During the period of realization of this project’s aims, the Elementary School for SNB servicemen in Ostrova nad Ohří was created on January 1, 1963. Initially, it ensured the education of servicemen working in correctional facilities; later, the education was expanded to include Public Security Service (Veřejná bezpečnost – VB) servicemen. In 1974, a new Ministry educational system was realized, creating a system of schools and courses on all levels. Previous systems were discontinued, and officer and warrant officer SNB schools were founded. As a result, the Warrant Officer SNB School was created in Brno; however, it did not have secure enough capacity, and the school in Ostrova nad Ohří thus became its detached workplace. On June 30, 1980, that school was terminated, and students were transferred to Brno.

The collection contains registers, grievance protocols, orders of the school chief, minutes from meetings of leadership and staff of the school, reports on the moral-political state of servicemen, on political-educational work, plans for the school system, analyses, plans for the educational process, overviews of textbooks, and papers concerning the abolishment of closed workplaces. Class books and reports are stored at the Secondary Police School of the Brno Ministry of the Interior (SPŠ MV Brno).

The unprocessed collections of Ministry schools contain all together the textual records on the running of the school, guidelines, rules, suggestions, economic issues and contracts, protocols on the transfer of functions, work plans and their evaluations, minutes from meetings of school leadership, complaints by and about students, statistical data, organizational guides of relevant schools, class reports and class books for older and already closed down schools, protocols on school-leaving exams and teaching curricula, registers and occasionally also personnel orders. The schools which exist to this day have kept these materials themselves. The time range of the archival materials is indicated in parentheses.
